The Department of Defense (DoD) has been given authority to assist Military Spouses of Active Duty, activated National Guard, and activated Reserve through Military Spouse Career Advancement Accounts—MyCAA. The MyCAA program was revised / reactivated (effective October 25, 2010).
*Eligible Military spouses worldwide may now receive up to **$4,000 of financial assistance to help pay for expenses such as education and training programs, tuition, licensing and credentialing fees.
-This includes degree programs (e.g. associates, bachelors, masters, doctoral and post doctoral), continuing education classes (including those offered through professional associations), Bar, CPA and other similar exams, state certifications for teachers, medical professionals and other licensed professionals.
*Effective October 25, 2010, new MyCAA will be available only to spouses of E1 - E5, W1 - W2 and O1 - O2 active duty members.
**Effective October 25, 2010, each participant is eligible for $2,000 of MyCAA assistance per fiscal year unless special approval is granted for the full $4,000.00. ]

Who Is Eligible
*Spouses of Active Duty members of the Department of Defense and activated members of the National Guard and Reserve Components are eligible. The period of eligibility for spouses of Guard and Reserve members is from the date of the Alert or Warning Order for Military Recall or Mobilization, through activation and deployment until 180 days following De-Mobilization. Spouses of the severely injured, ill, wounded or killed in action are also eligible.
Effective October 25, 2010, the benefit must be used within a three (3) year time period from the start of the class.

Setting up an account is an easy, self-help process Once spouse profile information is provided, MyCAA will verify spouse eligibility.

Spouses are encouraged to work with their School Academic Advisor or call a Military OneSource Career/Education Consultant at 1-800-342-9647 / 1-800-342-9647 if they need help in:
. Establishing a MyCAA Account and signing the MyCAA Statement of Understanding
(SOU)
. Choosing a portable career and establishing a career goal
. Developing a career plan (selecting courses, exams, other needed services)
. Looking up school(s) of choice in the MyCAA AI Portal
