National Association of Sports Nutrition (NASN)
NPTI of Colorado (NPTIC) and The National Association of Sports Nutrition (NASN), have teamed up to offer NASN's course material and certification to health & fitness professionals committed to the discipline of human sports nutrition.
NASN consists of Certified or Licensed individuals including medical professionals, dieticians, exercise physiologists, personal trainers and other practitioners.
NPTI Colorado has incorporated NASN's materials into its "Certified Personal Trainer" program which includes 100 hours of diet & nutrition. Graduates will be given the opportunity to take the NASN "Sports Nutritionist" examination at a significant discount.

The scope of education for both registered dietitians and medical professionals does not emphasize specific protocol for fat loss, lean body mass gain or performance enhancement. NASN is a worldwide organization promoting a professional counseling approach to accomplishing specific nutrition, exercise, and nutritive supplementation goals. NASN's curriculum is designed to provide health & fitness professionals with the tools and methods needed to create comprehensive, individual client sports nutrition programs.
Fitness professionals successfully completing NASN's Sports Nutritionist course will:
- Advise clients on exercise metabolism
- Develop training regimes directly affecting body weight / composition
- Know the proper use of nutritive supplementation
- Manipulate body composition through nutrition
- Enhance the client's athletic performance
- Enhance the client's quality of life through specific nutrition & exercise regimens
- Develop safe, proven and effective meal and supplement plans
